COMMENTS AND THOUGHTS
So far so good, I didn't really have time this weekend to look or read. I feel bad, I mean, really bad. I would return to the book tongiht. But as for now, this book is okay and I am looking forward to finishing my chapters required for this week!
Affections
What really suprised me from the 1st speaker, Lt. Joe Noackk is that he looked very young and healthy. I mean, I thought that he was going to look a bit more older and probably have any missing pieces of body parts; but, I guessed wrong. What stood out from this guest speaker is that, he was bad in school but loved sports and was very good at them.
The other guest speaker, the older one; I honestly, forgot his name. I think it was Dick something, I know it was Dick though. What hit me hard was that Dick survived after getting shot. I thought that he would have some major injuries showing but he was pretty much in shape also. What suprised me from this guest speaker was the first thing he say to us. He said that we should be grateful for each morning that we wake up and see that we're still alive. I never really thought of that before, but after that phrase; everyday I am happy to see that I can still wake up and see that I am still alive; breathing.
The guest speakers gave me modivation of reading The Things They Carried because they showed/told me that they were glad they took the chance to serve their country. Also the fact that their stories are kind of similar to the book!

At the Begining
At the begining, I seriously thought that this book was really lame. Yesterday was the very first time I touched the book. The first thing I did was looked at the cover, then think to myself, "Wow, I should really read this since I'm thinking about going into the Navy." Finally, I forced myself to read the very first chapter, " The Things They Carried."
This chapter was about all the materials that the soldiers brought with them to war. Some of the things that they carried was very heavy and useful. But some, it was just better left at home but I guess those things make them feel like their at home and that they are safe. There was a soldier that died in this chapter, his name is Ted Lavender. He was shot while taking a piss, I mean that is a sadly that he was in a sad position of his death.
Well, as of now, this book is interesting, I can't wait to read the next four chapters!
